Undergraduate Teacher Education Admission Test Score Requirement

The Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) has set minimum admission requirements for all initial teacher certification candidates. The minimum required scores are listed below. Test scores cannot be used if they are more than five years old (by the beginning of the semester for which the applicant intends to enroll in the teacher education program). If you take the Praxis outside the state of Kentucky, you must have your official scores sent to the University of Louisville, code 1838 and to the Kentucky Department of Education, code R7283(A).

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE ASSESSMENT
Successful completion of one (1) of the assessments of basic knowledge:

  • The ACT with a composite score of 22 or the corresponding minimum scores:
    - Reading - 20
    - English - 18
    - Math - 19

*The ACT Residual exam is NOT accepted by the state of Kentucky for teacher education admission purposes. Students using ACT scores must submit official scores from the National ACT exam.

    - CASE Reading (5713) – 156

An applicant may use a combination of ACT and CASE minimum scores to meet the requirements above
