STUDENT ASSISTANT POSITIONS


Student Assistant (General)
Reports to the Admin. Associate
Position Type:
Federal Work Study (approx. 20 hours per week
Salary:
$7.25/hour
Classification: All undergraduates

Position Description:

FWS will assist with answering a multi-line telephone system, running errands, help with keeping the public spaces clean, neat and orderly and other duties as assigned. Student must be able to lift 25 pounds as well as a strong attendance record.

 Students must be available to work during one of the following shifts:

  • 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

  • 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

  • 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM 


Student Assistant (Area: Programming)
Reports to the Programming Coordinator, Sr.

Federal Work Study (approx. 20 hours per week)

Program Description:

FWS will assist with the Cultural Center Weekly programs, by posting flyers around campus and promoting/advertising the Center's programs (via listserv, Facebook, Twitter, etc). Student will also be assisting with other tasks not limited to answering a multi-line telephone system, running errands, sorting and distributing mail, greeting and tracking visitors, data entry, setting up and cleaning up rooms for events as needed. Must be available to work on Wednesdays, 10:00 am - 2 pm.

Student Assistant (Area: Society of Porter Scholars)
Reports to the Associate Director

Classification: Junior/Senior  &  Current Porter Scholar

Program Description:

FWS will be assisting the Assoc. Director and Program Coordinator with the Society of Porter Scholars. Promoting/advertising the Center's programs (via listserv, Facebook, Twitter, etc). Student will also assist with answering a multi-line telephone system, running errands, sorting and distributing mail, greeting and tracking visitors, data entry and cleaning up rooms for events as needed.

Student Assistant (Area: Black Diamond Choir)
Reports to the Black Diamond Choir (BDC) Program Director
Position Type: Federal Work Study (approx. 15-20 hours per week, flexible schedule)

Salary: $7.25/hour
Classification: None specified

Position Description:

Position Description: Will assist with answering phones, checking voice mail, data entry, typing, faxing, copying, and keeping the BDC office organized. Student will assist both the BDC and/or Cultural Center Staff.

NIGHT MANAGER POSITION (FILLED AS OF AUGUST 23, 2010)

 Position Description

Primary Responsibilities:

Clerical and Administrative duties as assigned by the Center staff including but not limited to answering phones and faxes, mailing correspondence via postal and electronic mail, making copies, typing memos, and sorting, filing and collating paperwork;

Securing equipment, materials, doors and public areas between the hours of 5:00pm – 9:00pm, Monday – Friday;

Covering the front desk at all times between the hours of 5:00pm – 9:00pm, Monday – Friday; 

Completing checklist of rooms and equipment prior to the end of shift; 

Representing the Cultural Center at meetings and events when requested;

Attending Cultural Center meetings or events when requested;

Ensuring that “public spaces” are neat, clean and orderly for guests and groups using the Center. Rooms include the front office (101), student work area (100), copy area, conference room, student lounge, and the Multi-purpose Room (MPR);

Assist in checking the Cultural Center service account and reserving spaces;

Assisting the Center with other tasks as assigned. 

This position requires someone positive, highly motivated, friendly, and articulate, and that has the ability to multi-task, and be a team player.  Must be able to lift 25 pounds as well as a strong attendance record. Excellent customer service skills is a must for this position.
