This interactive Workshop is designed to identify the benefits of a communal approach to raising children and how family members can become mentors.

This session will present current research regarding the connection between word knowledge and reading achievement to pre-literacy skills and early reading milestones.’
(2)The Straight –A Report Card Formula

This session will examine “self-motivation” as a key component in helping African American students attain educational excellence and bridge the gap.

(1) Challenging Ideological Paradigms That Undermine the Education of African American Youth

This session will look closely at Ideological beliefs, assumptions & implications and provide Christian principals that can empower participants to challenge longstanding deficit beliefs.
(2) Strategies to Help Students Achieve their Dreams
Dr. Kimberly Ann Mucker-Johnson, Louisville, Kentucky
This session will present strategies for adults to use to help students survive through difficult experiences and still attain their dreams.
