Meet the Staff

MDAMichael D. Anthony, Interim Director, native of Charlotte, NC, is passionate about student advocacy. During his time at U of L, he has made it his personal goal to be a strong and vocal advocate for students, and has a life-long vision to empower students to affect positive change in their communities. He previously served as the Coordinator of the Office of Civic Engagement, Leadership and Service within the Division of Student Affairs. Michael is in his last semester of coursework for his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Organizational Development at U of L, where he also earned his Master of Arts degree in Higher Education. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from North Carolina State University. Michael is active in many leadership and professional development organizations across the country, and he brings many great strengths to his role as interim director of the new U of L Cultural Center.

Laine



Laine Y. López, Program Coordinator, is originally from Cuba and came to USA 10 years ago. In 2007, she graduated from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor Degree in Spanish and a minor in Latin American Studies. A year later, Laine received a Master Degree in Spanish and the Graduate Certificate of Latin American Studies from UofL too. Her goal is to outreach, support and guide the Latino community to accomplish their educational aspirations, therefore, to succeed in life. Laine is collaborating as well with the Latin American and Latino Studies and teach Basic Spanish classes for the Spanish Section of the Department of the Classical and Modern Languages.

Leondra

 



Leondra Gully, Graduate Assistant, is a 2007 graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and minor in Pan-African Studies. She is now pursuing her Masters Degree in the Educational & Counseling Psychology program with a concentration in College Student Personnel. As someone who comes from a city, East St Louis, of predominantly African-American low-income households, she understand the reality of not possessing the adequate resources or opportunities to attend college. It is for this reason that her passion is to help all students of color and diverse backgrounds take full advantage of their opportunity and become successful college graduates and later successful professionals.
