2012 Human Trafficking Awareness Conference

Many Americans think that human trafficking is something that happens only overseas. The Women 4 Women Student Chapter raised awareness about this modern-day slavery issue in Louisville and encouraged students and the public to become involved in efforts to make other people aware of the problem and to help stop it. The Human Trafficking Conference was held on Jan. 19, 2012.

Speakers included:

  • Anthony Talbott, co-founder of Abolition Ohio and a member of the Ohio Attorney General's Trafficking in Persons Study Commission. Talbott has discussed human trafficking  in  the media and  has given many presentations on human trafficking to students in the Ohio area. He will talk about domestic trafficking in the region.
  • Robin Malony, president of UofL’s Cards 4 Freedom, will discuss about (delete about) domestic trafficking of minors and about (delete about)  trafficking in the Louisville area.
  • Gabrielle Maxedon, former president of the Women 4 Women Student Chapter, will discuss how students and the general public can get involved in ending human trafficking.
