Get Involved at the Women's Center!

The Women's Center strives to find meaningful experiences for students to be involved with us. Each semester, we have a variety of Work Study, internship and volunteer opportunities. All students working at the Center help us with answering phones, greeting people when they come to the Center and helping us with our daily work. Most students also have individual projects, developed in collaboration with Women's Center staff members, which they work on over time. There are three broad ways to get involved: Volunteer, Work Study, or Internships.

Federal-Work Study

The Women’s Center offers paid staff positions through the UofL Federal Work Study program. If you meet the requirements for work study and wish to join the Women’s Center team, send us an email at womenctr@louisville.edu . Please note, we have limited positions available each year.

Volunteer

We offer many ways for volunteers to get involved at the Women's Center. We encourage creative participation and ideas. Volunteers at the Women's Center in the past have been involved with event planning committees, planning and implementing special projects about women's issues, creating brochures and posters for various events, tabling and posting flyers around campus, and other administrative tasks.

One-Time

Throughout the year we have occasional events or projects where we need extra hands for a few hours. This might involve helping out at an event or helping around the office. If this level of involvement fits your interest, email us!

On-Going

If you'd like a more regular involvement at the Center, we're happy to sit down and talk to you about your interests and what our needs for assistance are. We'll find some time for you to spend at the Center and either connect you with a project already in progress or help you develop an idea of your own.

Internships

Internships for undergraduate and graduate students in other departments have been developed in the past in collaboration with a variety of University departments to meet the needs of individual students. Contact your academic department to find out about its internship requirements and then contact us. We'll do whatever we can to put something together!
