2015 Fulbright Scholar
UofL graduate Sirena Wurth has earned a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant grant to work in a language school in Bulgaria. She has taught in New Orleans for the past two years through Teach For America.
The U.S. Student Fulbright Program, a federally sponsored international, educational and cultural exchange, recognizes academic merit and leadership potential. The program promotes mutual understanding between U.S. residents and people in more than 155 countries worldwide. Fulbrights are among the most prestigious awards in higher education.
“After teaching in New Orleans through Teach For America, the opportunity now to teach internationally with a Fulbright Scholarship is incredible. I’m eager to share U.S. culture and ideas on education with my school in Bulgaria and look forward to immersion in Bulgarian culture through this experience,” Wurth said.
