SPS Textbook Donation Request

With inflation and rising costs of living, the University of Louisville Society of Physics Students (SPS) recognizes that many students and members are facing increased financial hardships. As a chapter, we strongly believe that no student should struggle to afford textbooks. Everyone with an interest in physics should have the opportunity to learn.
Therefore, the UofL SPS is currently working on creating a textbook library for SPS members to access. We hope to loan textbooks, from required course materials to supplementals, at no net cost, for spans of 2 weeks. The library will consist of two tiers: free loans and deposits. Free loans will be more accessible or used books in acceptable condition. Books that require a small deposit (to be refunded on return) will be high-demand course materials and in good condition. While our primary goals are accessibility and ease of access, we hope this will ensure the longevity and integrity of the SPS Textbook Library.
For this concept to work and support UofL students, the chapter is asking students, alumni, faculty, and community members to donate their used textbooks, that are no longer in use, to SPS. We understand that these materials can be costly, but it is our hope that we can collect books to be passed on at no cost to future UofL physics students, supporting their interest and hopefully alleviating some of the financial burden.
If you have donations for this library, we thank you for your contribution! Please don’t hesitate to contact myself or any of the officers listed below to arrange your donation drop-off at the University of Louisville. Your support goes a long way in aiding the next generation of students, as well as the SPS’s ability to support them.
