Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award 2023
Dr. Sumanasekera has graduated 16 Ph.D. students since 2009. They have been hired by top-notch semiconductor/motor companies (INTEL, GM, etc.) using nanoscience and battery technologies. He was awarded the 2023 Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award of the College of Arts and Sciences for his commitment to student success and empowerment which include career development and placements of all his graduate students.
