Dr. Breacya Washington '95, Dr. Brian Marrillia '95, Dr. Gay Baughman ’81 Selected for Fellowships During the October 2022 meeting of the American Dental Association, three UofL School of Dentistry faculty members were selected for prestigious fellowships. Washington and Marrillia were named Fellows by the American College of Dentists and Baughman was named a Fellow by the International College of Dentists. | |

Alumni news - Melissa Seibert, DMD ‘18 Dr. Seibert’s podcast, “Dental Digest,” is devoted to empowering dentists to stay on the cutting edge of evidence-based dentistry. “It takes years to publish a textbook, months to publish a dental study, but only a few hours to publish a new episode of the podcast. This means that dentists can stay informed in real time,” she said. | |

2019 Alumni Fellow: Karen L. Pierce West ’77, D.M.D.’82, M.P.H. A group of distinguished graduates who are exemplary ambassadors for the University were honored as part of 2019 Homecoming celebrations. Karen L. Pierce West ’77, D.M.D.’82, M.P.H. is ULSD’s 2019 Alumni Fellow. Dr. West is President and CEO of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA). Prior to joining ADEA, she served as dean and professor of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine. A longtime advocate for women’s health and diversity and inclusion in dental education, Dr. West began her career as a project director in the Augusta Dental Project/Children and Youth Dental Clinic. She was then recruited as a clinical team leader at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 1990. Within the UK system she held several administrative positions. She gained academic tenure as an associate professor while serving as associate dean of Academic Affairs from 2002-2007.

Gay Baughman ’81 and Dean T. Gerard Bradley as they were inducted as Fellows of the American College of Dentists at the 2017 Annual Meeting. | |
Alumni News - Dr. Krysta Forry Manning, DMD '10 Dr. Manning is not your average veteran, average dentist or average mom. She has served as a captain in the Air Force, recently opened a specialized dental clinic in Anchorage and is raising triplets with her husband Ryan. The Russellville, Kentucky native has gone above and beyond for her country, her patients and her children, and to say she is one-of-a-kind doesn’t begin to cover it | |
Dental School Simulation Clinic Named in Honor of Alumnus Dr. Gary ’78 and Allyson Ball pledged $1 million to create an endowed fund for the expansion of the school’s clinical opportunities and new technologies for student education. In recognition of their gift, the School of Dentistry named the simulation clinic in their honor. | |
Clinical operation expands to southeastern Kentucky Dental and dental hygiene students are expanding their education by rotating to a clinic in Beverly, Ky. The initiative is a collaboration on the School of Dentistry and Red Bird Clinic, Inc. and some alumni are part of the effort. | |
