Programs & Events

The Delphi Center for Teaching and Learning is a faculty development center dedicated to teaching excellence. Faculty members, both full and part-time, are encouraged to participate in the Delphi Center's many programs. These programs assist in the professional development of the faculty at UofL by providing valuable and leading-edge information to faculty on a variety of issues, from technology, to best practices in teaching and learning, to research and assessment. We welcome all eligible faculty, staff and students to join our programs, regardless of race/ethnicity, national origin, gender, social class, sexual orientation, age and disability.

Book Clubs

Book Clubs bring educators together for cross-disciplinary conversation to build knowledge, community and collaboration. Register for one of these opportunities to engage in ongoing conversation about a dynamic teaching and learning topic and build community of with colleagues from across disciplines.

Celebration of Teaching & Learning

Celebration is a one-day professional development opportunity that is held annually in early February. The conference is designed to foster teaching excellence at UofL by providing educators from across the university with evidence-based teaching strategies for improving student learning. The Delphi Center has been sponsoring the conference for ten years and past keynote speakers include Ken Bain, Stephen Brookfield, Mark Taylor, and Cynthia Selfe.

Delphi U

Delphi U is designed to give faculty the tools and principles they need to create effective, interactive and stimulating online courses. Individuals leave Delphi U with a head start on creating or redesigning an online course and the skills required for continuing their work after the workshop. In-person sessions are offered in the spring, and online sessions are offered throughout the year.

Faculty Learning Communities

Join our faculty learning communty (FLC) to build a cross-disciplinary network while asking questions about teaching and learning and exploring teaching innovations. FLC participants also assess the impact of their focus area on student learning and present scholarship about their work.

Online Teaching Swap Shop

The Online Teaching Practices Swap Shop is an exciting and collaborative opportunity for online educators to come together to share their best practices while collectively crowd-sourcing innovative solutions to challenges in their online courses. There are multiple sessions per semester to join.

Seminar on Teaching for New Faculty

The Seminar on Teaching for New Faculty is a cross-disciplinary learning community designed to offer a select group of junior faculty a supportive, collegial atmosphere in which to explore and apply the findings of learning theory in their teaching at UofL. The seminar offers evidence-based resources, ideas and strategies for enhancing your teaching and student learning, with a focus on inclusive pedagogy.

Technology Training

The Delphi Center for Teaching & Learning offers a diverse range of technology resources and training seminars at the Belknap and Health Sciences Center campuses. Our seminars help introduce faculty and staff to best practices with new and emerging technologies, as well as help seasoned technologists further develop and sharpen their skills.

Workshops

The Delphi Center periodically hosts or collaborates with other units to offer special events and programs of interest to the university community. Our mission is to promote academic and professional growth through education.
