Aims

  • Expand the existing metagenomics, proteomics and metabolomics core services to provide tailored OMICS services to the UofL IDeA-CTR and the wider research community.

  • Play an active and significant role in the education and training of SOS scholars, pilot project PIs, and clinical and translational investigators.

  • Become an integral and self-sustaining component of the CTSI.

Functions

Responsible for the experimental design of all -omics projects and data analysis strategies, in consultation with the other CTSI Cores and the project PIs. Director of Metabolomics sub-Core and supervisor for the execution of metabolomics experiments. Organizes a monthly OMICS Core meeting to coordinate the development of OMICS Core projects, and reports to the CTSI Director. Available to consult with co-directors when the need arises.

Functions

Participates in design and oversight of qualitative and quantitative LC-MS experiments for CTSI pilot projects using high resolution, high mass accuracy LTQ-Obritrap and LTQ-Orbitrap ELITE instruments. Coordinates the integration of the proteomic data analysis results into other ’omics data sets with Drs. Zhang, Brock and Rai and the interpretation of the analysis with the project mentee/mentors. Involved in organizing the monthly OMICS Core meetings.

Supports all aspects of the metagenomic studies that are related to research study design and data analysis and interpretation as well as setting long term research goals & bench marks, achieving project sustainability. Oversees the operation of Metagenomics sub-Core, is responsible for the sub-core’s training program, participates in the weekly project meeting.
