October 10, 2025
University of Louisville received the 2025 Higher Education Excellence and Distinction (HEED) Award and the 2025 HEED Health Professions School Award from Insight Into Academia magazine. This annual award is a national honor recognizing U.S. colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to academic excellence, belonging, and community-building across all levels of campus life.
In the October 2025 issue of Insight Into Academia magazine, the University of Louisville is highlighted among 28 other health profession colleges and 61 other institution recipients.
This recognition reflects the outstanding work taking place across the entire University of Louisville, in classrooms, programs, and student services, and through the dedicated efforts of the Student Success Center, the Center for Belonging, Access and Engagement, Office of Health Equity and Engagement, Disability Resource Center, Center for Military Connected Students, LGBT Center, Women’s Center and other units across campus. Together, these units and partners ensure that every student is connected, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
“We take a detailed and somewhat holistic approach to reviewing each application in determining who will be named a HEED Award recipient. Our standards are high, and we look for institutions where academic excellence and belonging are woven into the work being done every day across their campus”, says Lenore Pearlstein, Co-Publisher of Insight into Academia magazine.
