A Quit Coach will help you decide if you’re ready to quit. When you are ready, your Quit Coach will help you plan how and when to quit. You can choose:
- Phone support for 5-6 weeks from a Quit Coach
- Referral to a 13- week Cooper-Clayton Program (using nicotine replacement)
Classes are free at some locations and some cost $10. All require payment for nicotine replacement but some sites offer assistance for cost of nicotine replacement. Programs are offered at UofL, Louisville Metro Department for Health & Wellness sites (502-572-7867), Norton Hospitals (502-629-5500) and other area locations. Ask Quit Coach for details.
Cooper-Clayton Method
A free program that consists of 13 one-hour weekly sessions. Participants use nicotine replacement products such as the nicotine patch, gum or lozenge. This is a science-based program that uses education, skills training and social support. Learn more »

The Ex Plan is a free web-based quit plan based on research and practical experience from ex-smokers that helps you re-learn life without cigarettes. Users may interact online with others trying to quit and also receive help through free text messages. Learn more »

Non-prescription Nicotine Replacement
The university will provide one cycle of either nicotine patches or nicotine gum (roughly a three-month supply) per student. For more information, call Campus Health Services at 852-6479 (Belknap) or 852-5446 (HSC).

The following medications may be prescribed to help you stop smoking.

- Bupriopion (Zyban, Wellbutrin)
