Dr. Jones, a tenured professor of pediatrics, joined U of L in 1990 and has served in multiple capacities for the University throughout her career. Having served as an Associate Dean, Medical Director, and Interim Division Chief Dr. Jones currently serves as the Associate Vice President for Health Affairs - Diversity Initiatives while still balancing her medical practice role and her commitment to many other varied committees and boards.

Dr. Jones is a Kentucky native and graduated from Western Kentucky University with her BS in Biology.  She attended medical school and completed her residency in pediatrics at the University of Louisville and later obtained her Masters of Science in Public Health and PhD in Epidemiology, both from the University of Louisville. Dr. Jones completed certificate programs in the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine; Louisville Healthcare Fellow, Health Enterprise Network in Louisville, Kentucky; Healthcare Executive Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program at Georgetown University in Washington, DC; and Academy for Innovative Higher Education Leadership, Co-hosted by Georgetown University and Arizona State University, Washington, DC and Phoenix, AR.
