Neurology Update 2017

The content of this activity will provide the latest update in the evaluation and management of acute stroke, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, headache and disorders of cognitive function, including dementia. The initial workup, current guidelines and latest available treatment options, both medical and surgical for the patient with these neurological disorders will be discussed.

Learning Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, participants should be able to:

1) Effectively use telemedicine in acute stroke care, thus enhancing delivery of care, as well as, improving patient outcomes.
2) Properly diagnose and treat multiple sclerosis with newer disease-modifying therapies using supportive evidence and reasoning for each therapy.
3) Identify newer medical options for acute and preventive treatment of migraine headache, as well as, improve proficiency in distinguishing primary and secondary headache disorders.
4) Diagnose and treat both epileptic and non-epileptic seizures, and to deliver appropriate counseling to patients with epilepsy regarding the state law for driving.
5) Diagnose and treat cognitive impairment and to deliver appropriate counseling to individuals with cognitive impairment.
