Campus and Community Collaborators
I2A succeeds at U of L due to a myriad of important collaborations with campus and community partners.
I2A and Academic Units
The I2A Task Group includes individuals who serve as I2A Facilitators and representatives from their undergraduate academic units and programs. The Facilitators serve to foster the development and implementation of curricular and programmatic changes to support I2A within their respective units.
I2A informational presentations have occured in the following units:
- College of Arts & Sciences (December 3, 2007)
- Kent School of Social Work Pracicum Faculty (January 2008)
- School of Music (March 21, 2008)
- School of Nursing (April 18, 2008)
- Speed School of Engineering (April 22, 2008)
All I2A Facilitators will be required to conduct a similar informational presentation in their respective units. More information will be posted on this website. Please click here to view a list of the I2A Facilitators in a separate window.

I2A and Student Affairs
The enhancement of the undergraduate experience through the ongoing I2A initiative will have lasting, meaningful impact at U of L if there is inclusion and consideration of students’ co-curricular experiences. Students’ lives have multiple dimensions during their years at U of L. Their experiences in residence halls, student groups, sports, and greek activities, for example, are an integral part of their learning and development as students and independent thinkers. The student affairs representative on the I2A Task Group is Dr. Michael Mardis, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students.
The I2A Team is working closely with staff from the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs to focus on shared goals, outcomes and programmatic efforts. In Spring 2008, these teams will work together to offer informational workshops and planning sessions in order to foster synergies and collaborations in the 2008-2009 academic year.
Signature Partnership Initiative
UofL’s Signature Partnership Initiative (SPI) is a new effort to enhance the quality of life for residents of west Louisville. The goal of the SPI is to work with various community partners to improve the educational, health, economic and social status of individuals and families who live in our urban core.
There are ongoing collaborations and discussions between SPI and I2A staff members to maximize the potential of both campus projects. In the 2007-2008 academic year, SPI and I2A teams are working with faculty and community members to begin the creation of a new curricular model that will inform I2A’s “culminating experiences” while also fulfilling SPI goals. SPI representatives Anne Banks, Director of Community Partnership Assessment, and Henry Cunningham, Director of Student Engagement, are involved with this planning.
