Dr. Henry Greenwell and Dr. Pin-Chuang “Patrick” Lai

Pin-Chuang “Patrick” Lai, D.D.S., Ph.D., assistant professor, UofL School of Dentistry, has received recognition from the American Academy of Periodontology as recipient of the 2017 Educator Award for outstanding teaching and mentoring in periodontics.

Lai’s research focus is in the use of antibiotics in dentistry, immuno-inflammatory responses in periodontal disease and tissue engineering for periodontal regenerative procedures around teeth and dental implants. He has presented on these topics at five national conferences, and has growing body of publications.

A Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, Lai has served as a reviewer for the Archives of Oral Biology,Biomarker Research and Oral Health and Dental Management. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Peridontology, International Association for Dental Research, American Association for Dental Research and the International Team for Implantology.
