Congratulations to the Class of 2014

The University of Louisville School of Dentistry held its graduation ceremony Saturday, May 10 at the Palace Theatre, the first year the school utilized the historic theatre as a graduation venue.

Graduating from the School of Dentistry Class of 2014 were 117 DMD students  and 28 Dental Hygiene students.

“We are very proud of their accomplishments and wish them much success,” said John Sauk, DDS, MS, dean and professor.

Several faculty and staff received recognition on Saturday. Congratulations to the following:

  • Michelle Cross– Staff Appreciation Award (Presented by the Student Senate to the staff member who has shown dedication and service to the student body.)
  • Dr. David Jones – D.T. Cummings Part-Time Faculty Award (Presented by the Student Senate to the part-time faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding instruction.)
  • Dr. Paul Boyd - William R. Wolfe Full-Time Faculty Award (Presented by the Student Senate to the full-time faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding instruction.)
  • Dr. James Kelly and Dr. Donald Gambrall – Distinguished Alumnus Award (Presented to a member of the 50 year reunion class for contributions to the education of students.)
  • Dr. Guy Furnish and Dr. Richard Keeling – Wilson Award for Teaching Excellence (Presented by Drs. Jim [DMD ’84] and Ginny [DH ’84] Wilson.  Their endowment generates a monetary reward for the recipient.  The faculty member chosen by the DMD senior class is the one who has contributed to their education and professional growth.)

The ceremony also included recognition of seven Golden Alumni who celebrated the 50th anniversary of their dental school graduation. The Class of 1964 honorees included Dr. Robert Cherry, Dr. Donald Gambrall, Dr. James C. Kelly, Dr. R. W. Lawrence, Dr. Lynn Mayfield, Dr. Leo Reherman and Dr. Kenneth Remmers.

About 2,000 people attended the ceremony.
