George E. and Mary Lee Fischer Chair in Family Entrepreneurship

College of Business

Established December 1998

George and Mary Lee Fischer funded this chair to support teaching and research in entrepreneurship and provide mentoring to student and family entrepreneurs through the Family Business Center. The chair holder serves as a resource and assists with the development of business plans, market assessments and venture financing. The Fischers' gift was matched with state funds.

Fischer, a former chair of the Board of Trustees, served as secretary of the executive cabinet during Gov. John Y. Brown's administration. A founder and former owner of SerVend, he is a member of the Kentuckiana Business Hall of Fame and was named Entrepreneur of the Year in 1990.
