The Department of Fine Arts and the Hite Art Institute of the University of Louisville offers the following undergraduate degrees:
Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in four tracks:
- 2D Studios [Drawing, Painting, Photography, Printmaking]
- 3D Studios [Ceramics, Fiber Arts/Mixed Media, Glass, Sculpture]
- Graphic Design
- Interior Design
The faculty are committed to providing our graduates with technical competence, aesthetic judgment and a strong dedication to artistic quality within the framework of a solid liberal arts background. Academic requirements in the Department of Fine Arts for majors range from 40 to 61 hours depending on specific degree requirements. In addition, undergraduate majors also take University-wide General Education requirements and programmatic and supporting courses in the College of Arts & Sciences.
All degree programs in the Department of Fine Arts require a separate application for admission to the department. In addition to applying and being accepted by the University of Louisville, students must also apply and be accepted into the Hite Art Institute and Department of Fine Arts.
