Abstract: The Second Annual Andrew Chamblin Memorial Lecture will be held at 7:30 pm on Thursday, April 15, 2010. The talk will be presented in the Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium on the campus of the University of Louisville.

Please join us as we again celebrate the life of Dr. H. Andrew Chamblin, who was Assistant Professor of Physics at the University of Louisville until his untimely passing in 2006. We welcome as distinguished speaker Dr. Paul Wesson, Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Waterloo (Ontario, Canada), and author of numerous books including "Brave New Universe: Illuminating the Darkest Secrets of the Cosmos", "Space-Time-Matter: Modern High-dimensional Cosmology", and the forthcoming "Weaving the Universe".

Do we discover the laws of Nature, or are they invented in the human mind? The former view is traditional, but recently ther has been a shift to the opinion that some of our science has a subjective element. This was actually suggested long ago by the famous astronomer Sir Arthur Eddington (1882 - 1944), who stated "The stuff if the world us mind-stuff." In this talk, data and pictures from the speaker's upcoming book will be used to take a new look at modern cosmology.

Paul Wesson is a professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, and author of numerous books including "Brave New Universe: Illuminating the Darkest Secrets of the Cosmos" and "Space-Time-Matter: Modern High-dimensional Cosmology." He also coordinates a group called the 5-D Space-Time-Matter Consortium.
