LIISA SALOSAARI JASINSKI

Prediction, 2024 (monotype with digital collage and mixed media, 11x9)

Rosy Page, 2023 (monotype with digital collage and mixed media, 20x16)

I use multiple mediums for monotypes: printing inks, acrylic inks, collage made from my own digital art and photography, collage painted/created for my monotype work, and mixed media. My matrix is heavy Japanese bamboo paper. Most of my work as an artist has focused on the study of the abstract form. There is a dichotomy in my mind between where my thoughts are, and what I create visually. No direct inspiration is guiding my work. My mind is drawn to complex issues and multiple explanations, and I focus on learning, and widening and deepening my knowledge. The art I create is the illustration of this process, but like seeing writing in a foreign language you do not master, the connection and meaning are obscured.
