Cardinal Cupboard

The Cardinal Cupboard's goal is to reduce food waste on campus by allowing students, faculty,
and staff to donate unwanted food items and offer it to those in need.
Located on the Swain Student Activities Center W314 (Third Floor).


Hours of Operation

The pantry is currently available by appointment. Please email to make an appointment between Monday - Friday from 9am to 6pm.

The pantry will be closed from Saturday, December 19, 2020 to Sunday, January 3, 2021 for winter break.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are the Pantry guidelines during COVID-19
A: Maintain a 6 foot distance from other individuals; do not enter if you are/or feeling sick; use the hand sanitizer provided when entering and exiting the pantry; do not bring your own bags; and do not enter the pantry if more than 3 people, including the staff member, are in the space. We recommend visitors wear masks, when possible.

Q: Who can use the Cardinal Cupboard food pantry?
A: ​University of Louisville students, staff and faculty are welcome to use the pantry. Visitors must show their Cardinal Card at each visit.

Q: What are your policies on what items you take for the Cardinal Cupboard?
A: Please refer to our Cardinal Cupboard Guide Book (DOCX) for all policy and regulation questions.

Q: Where can I donate food and toiletry items?
A: There is a permanent donation box staged outside of the Cardinal Cupboard in the Student Activities Center, room W314.

Q: How does Cardinal Cupboard receive donations?
A: All donations are received through in-kind donations, as either direct in-take food items or as monetary contributions, or university department or student organization sponsored food drives. We are accepting donations during COVID-19, but please make every effort to wide down the donations before placing them in the donation box.

Q: How do I make a monetary donation to the Cardinal Cupboard?
A: Monetary donations may be made through the ​Fund for UofL Student Affairs webpage. Select "other" under designation and specify "Cardinal Cupboard" in the notes section.

Q: Who should I contact if my organization is interested in hosting a food drive to benefit the Cardinal Cupboard?
