About National Pan-Hellenic Council

History

The National Pan-Hellenic Council was formed at Howard University with the purpose of creating a united body so that the Black Greek letter collegiate fraternities and sororities could form a united body. Additionally, this Council served as a forum to allow these Greek organization to consider and address problems of mutual interest effecting their organizations and their college experience.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council additionally serves as the governing body for the entire community of the predominantly Black Greek letter organizations. The Council is in charge of coordinating events that exposes the undergraduate student body to the history, mission and purpose of all of the divine nine member organizations on the University campus. The Council also sponsors events which promote unity among the membership of the different organizations.

Please explore our webpage for information on all of the National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations. Feel free to reach out to the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life if you would like additional information.
