Track Your Activity

Remember, moving does not necessarily mean walking or running.  Golfing, Yoga, Weight Lifting and other activities count, too!  No matter how you decide to keep moving, keep tracking, too! Remember to join us for weekly challenges and on-campus opportunities to get moving.

If you need help with the online tracker, click here for an easy "how-to" guide [pdf]. If you need additional help getting motivated to move, Get Healthy Now has many programs and resources to offer you.

Challenge Details & Weekly Charges

This spring, UofL and UK will kick off the 3rd annual movement challenge to promote healthy hearts!  In conjunction with the American Heart Association’s National Walking Day campaign, the goal of this friendly competition is to encourage ALL employees to increase physical activity, ultimately decreasing heart disease risks.  Your spouse/QA can join the challenge and walk for UofL, too!

At the end of the 10-week challenge, the University with the highest average number of steps recorded will receive a traveling trophy.  A t-shirt will also be given individually for participants with a minimum of 1,500 minutes recorded by June 11. Weekly charges will introduce focus areas from campus and community offerings and additional incentives, including:

  • UofL vs UK Wrist Band for the first 75 who participate in National Walking Day events.
  • GHN Swag: Pedometers, Sweatbands, Salad Shakers/Bottles, etc. Great prizes!
  • T-shirts for every participant who meets the weekly 150 minutes per week throughout the challenge for a total of 1500 minutes by the end of the challenge.
  • Signed Darrell Griffith basketball
  • GRAND PRIZE for the BIGGEST MOVER: Photo opportunity and post media campaign, signed basketball and healthy lunch with Darrell Griffith.

The challenge will run from April 3 through June 11, 2013. Track all activity, everyday! Get Healthy Now will host weekly walks on each campus from April 9th - June 11th:

  • HSC: Tuesdays 12-12:30 p.m., Mayor's Mile (Front of University Hospital, Jackson St.)
  • Belknap: Tuesdays 12-12:30 p.m., Cardinal Park (Joe Kitchen Memorial Pavilion)
  • Shelby: Tuesdays 12-12:30 p.m., Burhans Hall (Front Steps)

Employees must register with the American Heart Association to track their daily activity.  Register today at www.startwalkingnow.org, or click here to register. For detailed instructions, view the Registration Help Document [pdf].
