Staff Fellowship
What is a Staff Fellowship?
Staff Fellowships are short-term learning opportunities that place university staff in a setting where they can learn new skills and explore other careers at the university. The Employee Success Center will assist in the design of a fellowship and match selected participants with a university department or program, create a plan that includes specific activities to be completed, and identify an advisor in the host department to guide and support the experience. Fellowships are a collaboration between the participant, their home department, and the host department where they will be gaining experience.
A fellowship will generally consist of a minimum of 75 hours to a maximum of 150 hours that can be done all at once or incrementally, depending on the nature of the work to be done onsite and the participant’s responsibilities in their home department. The ideal participant is a UofL staff member who wants to grow professionally and learn about another facet of the university.
While there are many benefits to participating, the completion of a fellowship does not include the promise of a new position or a salary increase. Rather, it provides participants with new skills that can be leveraged in a job search and reflected on a resume, and exposure to a network of colleagues and experts who can be advocates.
