12/05/12 | Targeting Social Skills across the School Day: Lunch Bunch & Beyond | Julie Stewart | Students with autism spectrum disorders are impacted by a qualitative impairment in social interaction. Although this area of challenge will impact individuals across the lifespan, it is an area that does not receive as much explicit intervention as other areas. Finding times during the day to work on social skills is difficult, especially with all of the demands for academic production. Teachers must use times of the day that are naturally social, such as lunch, center work, & group work. This webinar will provide information about how to creatively and systematically plan for teaching social skills, targeting student social goals/objectives, across the school day. This webinar will also be beneficial for families to become even more active partners in planning for their student's educational experience. |
