Brief Description: Teachers in Louisville partnered with the University of Louisville faculty Tasha Laman and Kathy Whitmore and UL graduate students to explore literacy curriculum innovations and implement them into their classrooms in a project known as the Early Literacy Project(ELP). Teachers from preschool to upper elementary collaborate on transactional reading theories and critical inquiry methods inside their classroom. Teachers from the ELP presented their findings at the Literacies for All Summer Institute and the National Council of Teachers of English.
