Remember your teeth this Halloween!

UofL has provided more than 25,000 children with free oral health education since 2003

Brushing BunnyUofL School of Dentistry freshmen will visit more than 70 pre-K through 6th grade Jefferson County Public School classrooms Friday, Oct. 25. During the visits, they will talk with 3,300 children about the importance of oral health at a time when candy and other sweet treats are on the minds of youngsters. The children will learn about candy in the decay process, enjoy a visit from a costumed mascot and receive a free toothbrush and toothpaste.

This is theFreshman Halloween Project 11th year UofL has partnered with JCPS Family Youth Resource Centers, Northwest Area Health Education Center and the Blackerby Foundation to educate children about caring for their teeth. In the past 10 years, and in just 30 hours, UofL dental students have made an impression on 25,000 children in 51 schools and 828 classrooms through the annual Freshman Halloween educational program.

Dental students plan to visit Coral Ridge Elementary, Kenwood Elementary, Wheatley Elementary, Okolona Elementary, Shacklette Elementary and Rutherford  Elementary schools.
