Sherry's Circle - Alumni Supporting Dr. Babbage

"During my time in dental school, Dr. Madeline Maupin Hicks - a member of the DMD class of 1975 - became a mentor to me. This is why I carry forward her legacy by mentoring dental students. I want to be their support system in a way that no one else could understand because I have gone through it, too.
- Dr. Sherry Babbage Melisizwe

Hello, fellow alumni!

This website provides an avenue for dental alumni who have benefitted from the mentorship of Dr. Sherry Babbage Melisizwe to connect with her, the school, and each other. We want to share your success with our current students and want you to know that the foundation you created for the current students is strong and growing.

After receiving her DMD degree from UofL in 1981, Dr. Babbage went into private practice at West Louisville Dental Center on West Broadway, a location just miles from her childhood home. She remained in that location until her retirement from private practice after 38 years.

While she was in private practice, Dr. Babbage returned to the School of Dentistry as a part-time faculty member. After retiring from private practice, she moved into a full-time faculty role. Every day, “Dr. B” – as the students lovingly address her – shares her passion for dentistry with students and those considering a career in dentistry.

Dr. Babbage has played a key role in recruiting and retaining students at the School of Dentistry. She serves on the ULSD Admissions committee and is the dental director for Summer enrichment programs (SHPEP) and the Central High School career exploration programs. She is also the faculty mentor for the Student National Dental Association (SNDA) local chapter and the UofL Predental Club.
