- Children with pain from infection should see a dentist ASAP, especially if there is swelling associated with the painful tooth. An antibiotic before treatment may be necessary.
- Children with pain from trauma can receive Children’s Tylenol or Children’s Motrin for the pain. If these medications alone are not sufficient, alternate between appropriate doses of Children’s Tylenol and Children’s Motrin every 4 to 6 hours. This gives as much pain relieving effect as a narcotic without the narcotic side effects.
- If you have a child with pain from a cavity(s), call the ULSD Pediatric Dental Clinic. The child should be taken to the dental clinic ASAP (852-5642).
