University-wide Ceremony Requirements to Participate

REQUIREMENTS TO PARTICIPATE

To participate in the May 2020 University-wide Ceremonies, you must do all of the following:

  • Order a cap and gown.  Order your cap and gown online from Jostens before the deadline Sunday, March 29th at 11:59 p.m. Cap and gown ordering information will also be posted to http://louisville.edu/commencement
  • Attend rehearsal.  All students attending the University-wide ceremony are required to attend the rehearsal on Friday evening, May 8, 2020. Rehearsal for ceremony # 1 (10:00 a.m.) is at 6:00 p.m. and the rehearsal for ceremony #2 is at 7:30 p.m. Rehearsal will be held at the KFC Yum! Center. MFA, AuD, DNP, EdD, and PhD students attending the Graduate School Doctoral Hooding Ceremony do not rehearse prior to the Hooding ceremony.
  • File an approved online application for a May 2020 degree or have graduated in a previous term. File your application for a degree on ULink. For questions, visit the Registrar's website or call the Registrar's Office 502-852-6522.

NOTE:
Name listing in the Program Book is generated from the approved degree list.   Name call cards and line-up/seating arrangements are generated from the online cap and gown order list. The degree application on ULink and the cap and gown order are two different steps.  All candidates for degrees, whether or not participating in Commencement, must complete a degree application on ULink. To participate in the commencement ceremony you must apply for your degree and order a cap and gown.

If you order a cap and gown and find that you are not eligible to graduate or cannot attend the ceremony, please contact our office BEFORE the March 29th deadline and a credit may be issued.  After the deadline has passed, bachelor and master students must pick-up the apparel from the SAC Multi-Purpose Room (SAC W201) during distribution and use the apparel in a subsequent ceremony.

Questions? If you have any questions regarding your eligibility to graduate, contact your school/college advisor or Dean's Office.

Commencement ceremony information will be posted and updated periodically on this website.
