Maiying Kong, Ph.D., & Craig McClain, M.D., Research Highlighted at the National External Advisory Council meeting of the National Institute on Alcohol and Alcoholism
Congratulations to CIEHS members, Drs. Maiying Kong and Craig McClain, along with other UofL researchers, Drs. Vatsalya Vatsalya and Huirong Hu, who are co-authors of “The Beneficial Effects of Lactobacillus GG Therapy on Liver and Drinking Assessments in Patients with Moderate Alcohol-Associated Hepatitis” published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology. Their research was recently highlighted at the National External Advisory Council meeting of the National Institute on Alcohol and Alcoholism. This innovative research evaluates how a specific probiotic and the microbiome can impact both alcohol-use disorder and alcohol-induced liver injury.
