University of Louisville Army ROTC commissioned 17 new Second Lieutenants on 13 MAY 2022 into the United States Army. These new Lieutenants take the Oath of Commissioned Officers. This is a defining moment where they no longer live by the Cadet Creed but eagerly accept the exceptional responsibility of being a Commissioned Officer.

This year marks the 105th anniversary of the Army Reserve Officers Training Corps.  The President of the United States awards commissions based on academic performance, proven leadership capability, physical fitness and uncompromising moral character.  Today’s ceremony marks the 40th year of Army ROTC Commissioning at the University of Louisville. The Cardinal Battalion proudly boasts the commissioning of over 600 officers, including today’s Commissionees.  The Commissioning Ceremony for new lieutenants is steeped in military tradition and is one of the most significant in an officer’s career.
