CPT Derek Fosson is a Kentucky native and grew up in Flatwoods, Kentucky. He was commissioned in 2014 through the Federal Officer Candidate School program at Ft. Benning, GA. CPT Fosson has spent 10 years in the Kentucky Army National Guard.
CPT Fosson's assignments include; Plans Officer - HHD 198th Military Police Battalion; Commander - 617th Military Police Company; Executive Officer - 940th Military Police Company; Platoon Leader - 940th Military Police Company; and Platoon Leader - 617th Military Police Company. CPT Fosson entered into the Kentucky Army National Guard Active Guard Reserve program in August 2019 as the 198th Military Police Battalion Training Officer. Prior to entering the AGR Program, CPT Fosson held Active Duty Operational Support positions at the Kentucky Joint Operation Center as a Project Officer and at the Kentucky Recruiting and Retention Battalion as the AS3.
CPT Fosson’s military education includes: Military Police Basic Officer Leadership Course, Joint Domestic Operations Course, Military Police Captains Career Course, Common Faculty Development - Instructor Course, Military History Instructor Course.
CPT Fosson received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Eastern Kentucky University and is currently pursuing his Masters in Higher Education Administration from the University of Louisville.
