Department Graduate Assistantships

One (1) Department Assistant in the Department of History

  • Eligibility:  Entering or continuing students in the Master of Arts Program of the History Department.
  • Criteria: Applicants need a GPA of 3.00 overall for undergraduate and graduate work completed. The department assistant position will be awarded to the eligible applicant with the strongest academic qualifications.  In the case of students with substantially equal academic qualifications, preference shall be given to the candidate whose skills and experience best fit the needs of the Department. In case of students currently on department funding, an evaluation from the current supervisor may be considered.
  • Description: Work load is approximately 16 hours per week, paid at $9.00 per hour.  Duties revolve around assisting the departmental office staff and professors with minor administrative and research functions.  Assistant must be available to begin work the week before classes begin.

 

One (1) Public History Program Assistant in the Department of History

  • Eligibility:  Entering or continuing students in the Master of Arts Program of the History Department.
  • Criteria: Applicants need a GPA of 3.00 overall for undergraduate and graduate work completed. The Public History Program assistant position will be awarded to the eligible applicant with the strongest academic qualifications.  In the case of students with substantially equal academic qualifications, preference shall be given to the candidate whose skills and experience best fit the needs of the Department. In case of students currently on department funding, an evaluation from the current supervisor may be considered.
  • Description: Work load is approximately 16 hours per week, paid at $9.00 per hour.  Duties revolve around assisting the director and faculty in the public history program with program outreach, coordination, and project planning.  Periodically during the year this student will also assist the editor of Ohio Valley History with minor editorial tasks.  Assistant must be available to begin the week before classes begin.
