Graduate Student Appreciation Week

    Dean Beth Boehm has donated two of her football tickets to be raffled off to any graduate student who would like to attend the UofL vs. Virginia game with a friend on Saturday, November 14 (time TBD). If you'd like to add your name to the drawing, please stop by one of the SIGS sponsored events or Houchens 105 before 3pm on Friday to enter your name for the drawing.

    Humanities graduate students will receive a token of appreciation. Contact Lisa Schonburg (lkscho01@louisville.edu) to make arrangements for pick up.

    The Dean and Vice Provost for Student Affairs hosts their fall lunch during this week in honor of their 26 Graduate students working in the division during Graduate Student Appreciation Week.

    The week of November 9-13, the College of Arts and Sciences will celebrate A&S graduate students, who will receive additional information by email.

    The College of Education and Human Development Graduate Student Association (GSA) is happy to announce that they will have a table stationed in the CEHD lobby each afternoon of Graduate Student Appreciation week Monday-Thursday with treats available. CEHD graduate students should stop by for treats and “give-a-ways”!

    The Graduate Student Council Clusters will host events during the week of November 9-13 to honor graduate students in their areas. Check with your GSC representative for more information.

    The Department of Criminal Justice hosts a Graduate Assistant Appreciation Pizza Party for all criminal justice graduate students (faculty also invited) today at 5pm in the 2nd floor lobby of Brigman Hall.

    George Howe and The Red Barn offer free coffee and doughnuts from 8am until 10am for all graduate students.

    The Department of Mathematics offers coffee and doughnuts for math graduate students today from 9-11am in the Natural Sciences building, room 334. Faculty and staff are also welcome to stop by and visit with students.

    The School of Interdisciplinary and Graduate Studies (SIGS) invites all graduate students to stop by the Health Sciences quad area in front of Kornhauser Library between 8:30-10:30am for coffee and muffins.

    The Student Recreation Center offers today, free of charge to all graduate students, body composition testing, blood pressure screening, and 20-30 minute small group training sessions from 5:30-8:30pm. These services will be provided by the Card Force Training Staff at the SRC. The Department of History will recognize Graduate Student Appreciation Week by hosting a graduate student party for history graduate students with gift cards as raffle prizes today from 3-4:30pm in Gottschalk Hall. Contact Dr. Genevieve Carlton with questions. The Chemistry Graduate Student Association offers coffee and doughnuts in the Chemistry Main Office, 138, for all chemistry graduate students beginning at 9am.
    The Kent School of Social Work is holding a student appreciation meet and greet for social work doctoral students from 12-1pm in Patterson Hall 106. Refreshments will be served. The Biology Department is providing lunch at 1pm for biology graduate students. The weekly seminar speaker, faculty, and staff are also invited.

    The Chemistry Graduate Studies Program offers pizza and soft drinks from 1:30-2:30pm in the Chemistry building lower level lobby for all chemistry graduate students.

    The Minority Association of Graduate Students and the Cultural Center are co-sponsoring free massages and a trail mix bar in the Cultural Center lounge from 12-3pm open to all graduate students.

Dr. Michael Mardis, Dean of Students, is hosting lunch and discussion for graduate students working within student affairs from 12-1:30pm. In honor of Graduate Student Appreciation Week, the PEACC Center has delivered candy grams to the Graduate School Office for all graduate students to enjoy. Stop by between 1pm and 5pm for a sweet treat or two! The International Center welcomes all international graduate students to gather from 2-3pm today at the International Center for “Sweet Eats,” with baklava, pumpkin pie, hot chocolate and coffee.

     

     

     

    The School of Public Health and Information Sciences invites SPHIS graduate students to enjoy hot apple cider and tasty muffins today, beginning at 3pm in SPHIS, room 011. Faculty and staff are welcome to stop by and mingle with our students.

     

    The Speed School of Engineering is hosting an appreciation event from 3-4:30pm in Vogt Building, room 314 for all Speed School graduate students. Students have been emailed by Dr. Michael Harris asking that they RSVP.

     

    Graduate Student Council Cluster 3 invites representatives of Cluster 3 to have coffee, doughnuts, and muffins at the College of Education from 4-5pm.
