Please call 911 - Louisville Metro Safe or the University Police at 852-6111 in case of a medical emergency. All University Police Officers are certified in First Aid/CPR/AED and will act as first-responders when necessary. If you are in need of an ambulance, one will be dispatched to your location. Medical transportation is coordinated through Louisville Metro EMS to ensure patient safety.

The ULPD offers safety escorts free to any member of the UofL community from dusk to dawn every day of the year. The service can be obtained by calling (502) 852-6111.

When calling, be prepared to state your name and campus location for an officer to be dispatched to meet you. Safety escorts during daylight hours are provided when documented safety concerns exist. We are able to accompany anyone on either the Belknap or HSC campuses for a boundary of up to 4 blocks off campus. On ShelbyHurst, we are able to accompany you within the campus perimeter only. The Communications Center is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by certified law enforcement telecommunicators. These individuals are responsible for answering calls for police, fire, emergency medical services (EMS), and campus security escort services as related to all UofL campuses. The Center monitors fire, intrusion, emergency and maintenance alarms on all UofL properties. Telecommunicators dispatch and coordinate police, fire, EMS and security officer units in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Additionally, personnel oversee and relay information from our emergency telephone system, coordinate after hours building access, and manage all inquiries related to campus safety.

All significant events on University property that raises security issues or public safety concerns should be reviewed prior to the date of the event with the ULPD. Both sworn officers and public safety personnel are available on an hourly basis for special events, crowd control, asset protection and general security needs.

Departments or organizations planning special activities should contact Major Oscar Chavez at (502) 852-6111 as early as possible in order to plan for the event or activity.

The locking and unlocking of buildings after normal business hours is a responsibility of the ULPD. During the normal workday, locking/unlocking is provided by the department responsible for the space or, in some cases, UofL Physical Plant. If you've been involved in an incident and a report was taken by the ULPD, you may request a copy of the report. Please allow 5 business days from the date of the incident to pass before making a request. To request a copy of the report, you must submit a completed Incident Request Form. You will be notified by phone when the report requested is available for pick-up at the Belknap ULPD office.

Title IX prohibits schools, colleges and universities that receive federal funds from discriminating based on sex - whether in the form of different treatment, or hostile educational environment created by sexual harassment or assault. As a member of the UofL community, if you are a victim of any sexual misconduct you have the right to file a Title IX complaint with the UofL's Title IX Coordinators in addition to filing a criminal complaint with the ULPD.
