- Have developed the first distance education nursing program in KY with a BSN extension program in Owensboro KY using synchronous technology to deliver lectures from Louisville SON while students have clinical experiences at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Community Service:
- Our undergraduate nursing students with faculty are active service providers in the Metro Louisville area, giving over 10,000 hours in 2010-2011.

SON produces the most licensed baccalaureate registered nurses in Kentucky with a current average of 95-97% pass rate on the NCLEX-RN licensure exam. We prepare adult, family, psychiatric mental health, women’s health and acute care nurse practitioners to be full partners in health care delivery. Our faculty conduct research in end of life care, health promotion, chronic conditions and life transitions with doctoral students who will be our next generation of faculty.
