Pan-African Studies

$50 for 50 Years — the Department of Pan-African Studies was launched at UofL in 1973, making it one of the oldest units of its kind in the country. In honor of our 50th Anniversary, we are asking you to give $50 to help us continue our model undergraduate and graduate programs.

What is Pan-African Studies?

Pan-African Studies (PAS) is the study of the cultures and societies of Africa and persons of African ancestry, both past and present. Our students study the diffusion of African people and cultures in North America, the Caribbean and South America, with special focus on the United States.
