Why should Military-Connected Students choose UofL?

UofL recognizes the unique challenges and circumstances faced by military-connected students and strives to provide the support and flexibility they need to succeed.

We are proud to have earned Military Friendly® Gold Designation and Military Friendly® Spouse designation 2023-2024. We are proud to have also earned Military Times Best for Vets College for 2023.

We have a large and vibrant military-connected student population:

• More than 10% of our total student body, and 21% of students enrolled in UofL Online Programs are military-connected students

• We have more than 1,000 veterans or dependent students enrolled using GI Bill benefits

We are proud to offer:

• Waived Application Fee for Veterans and all personnel currently serving in the Armed Forces of the United States (all branches and all components)

• Priority Course Registration for all personnel currently serving in the Armed Forces of the United States (all branches and all components)

• $250 Per Credit Hour (PCH) for all Undergraduate and most Graduate programs to Active-Duty and Qualifying members of the National Guard and Reserves

• We recognize American Council on Education (A.C.E.) credit recommendations on Joint Service Transcripts

• A Military-Connected Student Advisory Council

• A Salute to Service program where we recognize and honor veteran students, staff, and faculty at football and men’s and women’s basketball games, and allow military children to serve as Kick Off kids at football games

• A Salute to Service veteran and Dependent scholarship fund

• A feature in UofL News recognizing military-connected students during the birthday of the branch of service they serve/served in

• A Student Veterans Association chapter

Our Center for Military-Connected Students is now located in Brodschi Hall, located between the Law School and Ekstrom Library (as of Fall 2023). It includes a student lounge and kitchen, study space, a meeting space, office space for Center full-time staff and flexible office space for support staff from student services areas. Come and visit us!

Military-Connected Student Virtual Information Sessions

Please register for the Virtual Orientation Session that is closest to your summer orientation dates on campus. These sessions will be Informational in nature and are critical for military-connected students to understand how their education benefits work at the University of Louisville.
