Report of the Part-time Faculty Committee for September 14, 2015

The Part-time Faculty Committee met at 3:30 PM on September 14, 2015, in room 254 at Ekstrom Library.

The Committee welcomed Faculty Senate Chair, Pam Feldhoff, who delivered the Faculty Senate charge.

Susan Peacock was elected as chair and selected to be the liaison to the Executive Committee. Rose Mills was selected to represent PTF on HRAC

Reports…

• Due to a last-minute request from HR regarding the PTF orientation, no committee representatives were able to attend. The committee was in agreement that we will work more closely with the new HR team to ensure that the PTF orientation goes forward in the coming semesters.

Discussion Items…

• Mentoring for new PTF was discussed. It was decided that the committee would mentor new faculty whenever possible.  A list of PTF members will be sent via the listserv.
• The possibility of a welcoming social for new hires was discussed. The committee will look into maybe scheduling our November meeting at the Tulip Tree and inviting other PTF to join us.

Action items…

• In order to gain closure on the PTF salary review, the committee will invite a representative from IR to review available data, such as student load allocation at UofL and PTF pay in comparable local markets.
