What are the four pillars to create a solid foundation for the work of the UofL Early Childhood Research Center?

In July 2018, Dr. Lori Norton-Meier was appointed the Director of the ECRC and began a process of strategic planning with community partners, school district personnel, state leaders, and both national and international scholars in early childhood. Four specific areas of synergy and future collaboration were identified as key, critical initiatives for the ECRC in the next 5 years:

  1. Improve and develop a research relationship with the Early Learning Campus (ELC) (Research & Partnership)
  2. Seek funding and partnerships to support Research and Creative Endeavors.
  3. Supporting Early Childhood Teacher Research and Development (pre-service and in-service teacher learning).
  4. Impact Policy, Outreach, and Dissemination (Local, State, National).

As the institution continues a strategic planning process under the direction and guidance of the new University of Louisville President, Dr. Neeli Bendapudi, the ECRC will work to align our vision with the new strategic plan as it takes shape.

Also in 2019, the ECRC will celebrate 20 years of research and service to the community. A formal celebration, presentation, and publication will illuminate the lessons learned from two decades of research with children, families, teachers, early childhood professionals and policy makers committed to "leading interdisciplinary research initiatives and creating innovations to better understand the lives of young children."
