November 2024 Notes from the Director

J. Christopher States, Ph.D.

The big news is that the P30 renewal application was reviewed in mid-October and it received an excellent score. We are still waiting to receive the summary statement and plan to discuss the review at the retreat in December.

Speaking of the retreat, we will have a poster session, and presentations from the Facility Cores about new capabilities and research highlights from the Research Interest Groups. Dr. Becky Antle will be conducting a satisfaction survey as well.

General news includes the searches for the Associate Vice Provost for Research Computing (AVPRC) and the Executive Vice President for Research and Innovation (EVPRI) are underway. Yours truly is serving on both committees. The AVPRC finalists will have on campus interviews in December. The EVPRI finalists will have their on-campus interviews in January.

The 2025 Society of Toxicology annual meeting is March 16–20 in Orlando. There is still an opportunity to submit an abstract. The abstract site will reopen for Late-Breaking Abstracts on December 12.

A special thank you to all who contributed to the CIEHS Trainee Travel Fund. With a 1:1 CIEHS match we will be able to make about 15 awards. These awards assist our trainees to attend national/international meetings and present their environmental health science research. If you missed Raise Some L, you can donate to the fund at anytime through the CIEHS website.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving! We wish you joy in the holiday season.
