Dual Degree Programs
Several dual degree programs are available at the School of Medicine allowing students to graduate with both a traditional M.D. and an additional graduate degree.
Graduate Medical Education
The School of Medicine has a top quality Graduate Medical Education program that contributes to better patient care services and a scholarly environment where both faculty and residents can participate in research activities.
Office of Medical Education
The Office of Medical Education assists the Education Policy Committee in Managing the undergraduate medical curriculum. The OCDE works closely with departments, course directors, and individual faculty to assure that the curriculum is properly sequenced and integrated and involves the use of appropriate and innovative teaching technologies including:
Standardized Patient Program
As part of their medical education at the University of Louisville, students interact people from the community who are trained as simulated standardized patients. These individuals are trained to recreate and portray the aspects and response patterns of actual patients.
Patient Simulation Lab
The Patient Simulation Lab training suites have classrooms, videotaping equipment and labs featuring state-of-the-art, computer-controlled mannequins that mimic human responses.
Office of Continuing Health Sciences Education
The Office of Continuing Health Sciences Education develops and presents formal offerings, in addition to grand rounds, enduring materials, and web–based courses. Support is provided through sponsored and jointly sponsored medical education activities that improve the understanding of the constantly changing patient care needs of the people of Kentucky, and new techniques and findings in research and education.
