Puri receives Kosair award for service to children

Vinay Puri, M.D.

Vinay Puri, M.D., an associate professor of neurology and pediatrics at UofL, has received the prestigious Roger Fox Award from Kosair Charities for his service to the children of Kentucky.

Puri, director of the university's Child Neurology Program, is a funded researcher in pediatric neurology and serves as the Principal Investigator for multiple clinical trials. His publications have appeared in journals such as Neurology, Journal of Child Neurology, Journal of the Kentucky Medical Association and Clinical Infectious Diseases.

Puri is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Neurology, American Academy of Pediatrics, Kentucky Medical Society and the Society of Child Neurology. His areas of interest include epilepsy, Tourette’s, migraines, and caring for children with complex neurological disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Puri is well recognized for his commitment to education and the community. He has been nominated twice for the University of Louisville Master Educator Award. He also has been named the Clinical Teaching Professor of the year six of the last nine years and in 2004 he received the Physician of the Year award from Easter Seals of Louisville. 

Previous winners of the Kosair Award include Larry Cook, M.D., UofL's executive vice president for health affairs.
