The mission of the Medical Education Research Unit is to improve the health of patients and populations by supporting research that focuses on medical education across the continuum of undergraduate medical education.

What is the Medical Education Research Unit?

The Medical Education Research Unit is a division of the Office of Medical Education at the University of Louisville School of Medicine located in Instructional Building B, Room 311 West. Dr. Michael L. Rowland is the Director of the M.E.R.U.

We provide both short term and long term assistance in all phases of the research process:

  • Framing research questions
  • Designing research and instructional validation studies
  • Obtaining IRB approval
  • Submitting grants
  • Managing research projects
  • Analyzing quantitative and qualitative data
