Laboratory for Psychoneuroimmunology Research

The mission of this laboratory is to better understand the mind-body effects of stress and psychosocial interventions to buffer stress in the context of chronic disease. We explore effects on the nervous, endocrine and immune systems of interventions such as Mindfulness Meditation in patients with fibromyalgia, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. The influence of traumatic experience and the cumulative effects of stress on neuroendocrine-immune adaptation, health, and disease-resistance are of particular interest.
