The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Women's Health provides comprehensive women's health care for women in Kentucky and southern Indiana plus training and research opportunities for medical students, residents, and fellows in five specialty and sub-specialty divisions.
The sub-specialty treats patients with dysfunctions of the urinary tract and the pelvic floor, including incontinence and prolapse. Residents train with faculty attendings. Our department offers fellowship training, as well.
The division provides routine well-women physicals, care for normal and complicated pregnancies, and treatment for gynecologic diseases and conditions. Our minimally invasive gynecologic surgeons provide the most advanced approaches for treatment, including robotics, advanced laparoscopy, and operative hysteroscopy. We serve as a regional and national referral center for treatment of fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, endometriosis, pelvic pain, and ovarian abnormalities. We train residents and offer a fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.
Our division is the largest in the region specializing in the treatment of cancer of the female reproductive system and the only one affiliated with the renowned James Graham Brown Cancer Center. Our faculty attendings provide patients with expert diagnosis and management of cancerous and precancerous conditions of the female reproductive organs.
A recognized regional referral center for complicated pregnancies, our faculty apply professional expertise and advanced technology in caring for patients with high-risk pregnancies. We offer comprehensive prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling, and ultrasound services that include 4-D ultrasound equipment.
Our physicians provide complete evaluation and treatment for couples with infertility, as well as therapy for hormonal disorders that cause menstrual irregularity, unusual hair growth, altered sexual development, recurrent miscarriages, and menopausal problems. We offer full laboratory services, including sophisticated prenatal genetic and chromosomal screening.
